The sweat lodge, temazcal or inipi is a powerful ancestral therapy of connection with the elements of nature — earth, water, fire and air — that also inhabit within us.
It is one of the most comprehensive integrative holistic therapies that exist, with great benefits at a physiological, emotional and spiritual level.

The open to public temazcal experience includes a hydrotherapy circuit followed by a 30-minute massage, creating a complete wellness experience for body and mind.

The ceremony
The sacred bath that awakens our consciousness
Depending on the geographical area and the traditions of each town, the ways in which the ceremony takes place and the materials with which the lodges are built vary. All agree, however, that it is a great natural medicine for the awakening of our consciousness and for the recovery of ancestral memory.
The temazcal symbolizes the maternal womb, allowing us to recreate the moment of conception and gestation — a time of which we sometimes keep memories that cause an emotional or psycho-social blockage in adult life. Reviving that moment lets us observe, liberate and heal self-limiting programs and beliefs.
It is an excellent way of balancing the emotions, and it transports us to a state of peace and inner tranquility, quieting the mind.

Inside the lodge
Heat, steam and medicinal plants
The high temperature makes the body sweat, and the humidity does not allow that sweat to evaporate, so the self-regulation system of the body responds: circulation accelerates and we sweat even more, eliminating toxins as much as possible.

This is what the tradition and our own practice attribute to the temazcal, area by area.
Skin
In polluted environments the pores get blocked, and the high temperature activates them again. The renewal of the skin is stimulated, and so is the acid covering that protects it from infections.
Respiratory system
As the temperature rises and the steam combines with the aroma of medicinal plants, the airways open. The lungs expand and throw out accumulated toxins.
Circulatory system
Blood circulation rises and the vessels expand, which helps expel toxins and eliminate uric acid and cholesterol.
Nervous system
The body is relaxed and stimulated at the same time, which helps with stress, nervous strain and insomnia. It also works on the psychological level: we take time to think about our life, our mistakes and our successes.
Digestion and muscles
Intestinal activity is aided, and it helps with sprains, strains, bruises and inflammations. Liquids and grease are eliminated, which also helps with losing weight.
Labor and after labor
In different states of Mexico and Central America, traditional midwives used the temazcal with pregnant women as preventive and healing medicine: inside the lodge the uterus expands and labor becomes easier.
Personalized
Your Nahuatl name, in a personalized temazcal
In a personalized sweat lodge we can plant your Nahuatl — traditional Mexican — name. For that we need to study your name and your date of birth beforehand.
A personalized ceremony can also be arranged for a couple, a family or a small group, and combined with a cacao ceremony on the new moon or the full moon, or with our other healing experiences.
Before you come
What to bring, and what to tell us
- A bathing suit, a towel, organic mosquito repellent and a bottle of water.
- Please don't eat much on the day of the sweat lodge. In the original ceremony we fast as an offering; if you can't, eat just fruit or something light.
Please let us know if you take medicines or drugs, have heart problems, high or low blood pressure, diabetes or any pathological symptom.
